Join Us Dec. 12th for a Virtual Reading with the Electric Marronage Dossier Writers from "In a Time of War"
Writers will share pieces from the new EM microdossier, “In a Time of War"

Established in 2015 and expanded in 2019, TALLER ELECTRIC MARRONAGE (EM) began when a group of Black/Latina, queer, writers, and artists decided to plot points across their escape matrix. Inspired by the petit marronage of our ancestors, we steal away on the electric platform, share our journeys and offer what we find along the way. EM is the Winner of the 2020 Garfinkel Prize from the Digital Humanities Caucus of the American Studies Association and is part of the Diaspora Solidarties Lab Projects led by Dr. Yomaira Figueroa-Vásquez and Dr. Jessica Marie Johnson.
Please join us on Dec. 12th for a virtual reading with [Taller] Electric Marronage Writers, as they share pieces from the new microdossier, “In a Time of War.”
Edited by Lead Editor Dr. Nadejda Jahi Webb and Co-Director Dr. Yomaira Figueroa-Vásquez.
As shared in a letter from the editors, “In a time of war, our writers declare, ‘I want to live…look for me everywhere’ CM). From wartime Punjab to Bahia, ‘pedagogies of endurance’ (GK) remind us of what is possible, even as they contemplate the enclosures we collectively exist within. May this microdossier root the affective whirlwind of this moment. May we look to each other and know, we are still here. With names. With stories. With proof of lives lived. With survival at the fore. The writers underscore the truths: ‘War doesn’t bypass universities’ (KM) and mothering is a radical praxis that is laden with grief, fear, and hope: ‘we birth a guerrilla-war-like way of survival, a théâtre de résistance’ (SC).
Join us to hear from writers Gabriel Pascua, Janet Arelis Quezada, danah alfailakawi, Dr. Kimberly Monroe, Sharayna Ashanti Christmas, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Cristina M, and experincd in each piece in full💐
