Please join the New Generation Scholars Young Artist Archival Fellows for their Opening Reception on Thursday June 26, 2025, from 6 - 9 pm at The Peale (Holliday Street, Baltimore, MD). RSVP here.
Of Yesterday + Tomorrow is the culminating group exhibition of the 2025 New Generation Scholars Young Artist Archival Fellowship—a gathering of voices, memories, and visions shaped in dialogue with Black diasporic archives. Featuring emerging artist-archival fellows Alaina Lurry- @alainalurryphoto, Angel Jones- @orchidp3tals, Christopher Reaves- @sandman.psd, Donte Hance- @univrsl__, Jamal Childs- @jamlthecaml, Mathilde Mujanayi- @mujanayiismyname, Ziggy Sayeed- @ziggysayeed and Guest Artists Jazz Williams- @jazzwilliams.art and Teylah Saunders- @visionarytey.
We gather here in a corridor of time, where the veil between yesterday and tomorrow is perforated—where the becomings echo futures long dreamed and pasts never forgotten. This is not linear. This is not fixed. This is the unfolding of a ritual.
In Of Yesterday + Tomorrow, this work becomes a cipher, a living fragment of the archive, to preserve both its stillness and breath.
Reverence, in this context, is not semi. It is not gazed upon. It is the framework on which we survive. A muscle stretched and honed across generations.
This is not an exhibition to arrive at—it is a portal, passage, prophecy, towards the Black tomorrows shaped by yesterday’s rage. A constellation of memory and audacity, where the story is no longer is—but a will in motion.
