Black Beyond Data Reading Group: Amber Sinha
Join us in conversation with Amber Sinha on October 25!
The next Black Beyond Data Reading Group of the fall season will be held on Friday, October 25th! These free, virtual, monthly meetings are focused on exploring ideas around community-based data analytics (CBDA), a collaborative approach to data that involves community members in the collection, management, and analysis of data in their communities
The aim of the Black Beyond Data Reading Group is to gather people (researchers, faculty, community activists) who have an interest in Black community-based data analytics to critically research and study social issues to initiate transformative change in Black communities.
This month's guest speaker will be Amber Sinha, whose studies focus around the impact of digital technologies on socio-political processes and structures. His research aims to further the discourse on regulatory practices around the internet, technology, and society.Â
He is currently an Information Fellow with Tech Policy Press. Until June 2022, he was the Executive Director of the Centre for Internet and Society, India (CIS) where he led programmes on privacy, identity, AI, cybersecurity and free speech. Amber's research has been cited with appreciation by the Supreme Court of India and several government committees. He is a member of the GPA Reference Panel of Global Privacy Assembly. Amber's first book, The Networked Public, was released in 2019.
